The Basic Life Support (BLS) course provides students with Basic First Aid skills in line with current UK Resuscitation Council guidance. It is an excellent course to teach members of the public or community basic life saving skills during a short, concise course that focuses on immediate priorities and effective, simple care that can be performed until professional medical assistance arrives.

Course Overview
Basic Life Support focuses on initial, time critical care for life threatening situations including dealing with someone who has stopped breathing, is bleeding severely or has become unconscious.
Information will also be presented on the Chain of Survival concept to identify that prompt, effective actions can greatly increase the chance of survival.
BLS meets with the recommendations for training an ‘Appointed Person’ in basic first aid skills as detailed in the HSE Approved Code of Practice L74.

The course follows a syllabus laid down by WorkSafe Training Systems and utilises the following training methods:

Successful candidates will be awarded an A4 certificate awarded by First Aid Cornwall following completion of the course.
